Our  mission and values

We aim to support and empower refugees, asylum seekers and vulnerable migrants in South London in order to relieve poverty and distress.

We work in the best interest of our   clients regardless of where they find themselves in  the immigration or criminal justice system and how they came to be there.

We work  alongside our clients to move their situation forward.

We help to build resilience within individuals and communities.

We encourage people to act for themselves when they can.

Our history

South London Refugee Association is a registered charity which was established in 1991. We run a range of projects which promote the inclusion of refugees, asylum seekers and migrants in South London.

Most of our clients come from countries affected by political conflict and instability; many of them are destitute. Our clients include young people who have experienced trauma and have arrived alone and disorientated in London, families who are trying to navigate the UK's complex asylum process and others who have been trafficked to the UK. Legal aid cuts and the closure of many other services has left many with no recourse to the services they most need. We fill the gaps in service provision and go the extra mile to make a positive difference to people's lives.

In 2015 SLRA's opened a new office in Lambeth and now has bases in Merton and Lambeth with established services running in these two boroughs as well as in Wandsworth and Croydon.
